The home of The Grand is more than just a restaurant—it’s a living piece of Wauconda’s history. Originally built in the late 1840’s as a stage stop, the building has stood at the heart of Main Street for nearly two centuries, welcoming travelers, townsfolk, and visitors alike.
Over the years, these walls have housed numerous restaurants, hotels, and local businesses, - including Middleton's On Main, Elliott’s Grand Hotel and lakeside Inn - each leaving its mark on the building’s enduring character. From its days as a bustling stop for stagecoaches to its role as a gathering place for generations of locals, the space has always been a hub of community, conversation, and connection.
Today, The Grand carries that legacy forward—blending historic charm with modern hospitality. Every creak of the original floorboards is a reminder of the countless footsteps that have passed through, each adding a chapter to the story that has culminated in what The Grand is today.

Today, The Grand stands as Lake and McHenry County’s newest gathering place—a modern tavern and social house where history, hospitality, and elevated dining come together in the heart of downtown Wauconda.
From the moment you step inside, you’ll discover spaces designed for every kind of evening. Our double-height Sports Bar & Tavern pairs the excitement of game day with a thoughtfully crafted cocktail program, creating a lively yet refined atmosphere for drinks, conversation, and celebration. Just beyond, the historic dining room offers a warm and inviting setting where guests can enjoy chef-prepared dishes in the timeless character of our nearly 200-year-old building.
On warmer days, the Main Street Porch becomes a guest favorite. Seasonal glass French doors open to let in the breeze, creating the perfect place to relax, enjoy a meal or cocktail, and take in the charm and energy of downtown Wauconda.
Upstairs, the OneTen Club Lounge offers a relaxed social escape above the restaurant. Featuring plush seating, intimate gathering spaces, community tables, and balconies overlooking both Main Street and the tavern below, the lounge is designed for guests to unwind, enjoy a drink, play a game of cards or chess, and linger a little longer into the evening.
